My interest in ICT started during my study
Study
During my Economics study I specialized deeply in ICT already out of pure interest in the subject. That interest has been active till today.
KPMG Consulting (1990 - 2011)
My first big implementation of a business software package in 1991 has opened my eyes for the huge improvement potential for many customers. We developed a methodology for Business Process Redesign (BPR) based on the best practices of ERP packages. Based on that method we started the group KPMG Systems with 9 other consultants. That group has grown tremendously (till 200 consultants) by a joint vision how business improvements can be realized by the proper use of packaged software. Some examples of projects below:
Program manager of the implementation of a new financial package at UWV. That organization was 40.000 employees Process Redesign (BPR). Due to a legal change a full new financial system had to be implemented within a short period of 1 year. The team has been built up till 90 fte. We went succesfull live.
Peer reviews of huge ERP implementations within Philips globally. As an external member of the peer review team, my expertise was used to make bold conclusions and propose the proper interventions.
The set-up and program management of a new internet site for all 34 European countries of Canon Europe. We realized Canon’s ‘content-dream’ with one central repository for all content that was being pushed to local websites by a well-managed process of translation and approvals. This was the first of its kind in Europe.
The realization of the first huge Datawarehouse for management information for the use by KPMG Netherlands. The data of 9 operational systems were fed into the central Datawarehouse with many checks and two-way tracing and tracking of information.
Besides these examples I have managed many projects with my Baan-team (1994-2000) and my Customer Management team (2000-2010).
Interim Director (2012 - 2023)
Most of my interim roles have been general management. ICT has not been the prime focus in most of these jobs, but nevertheless the role of ICT is always important. So also in these general management roles I have been involved in several ICT programs during these jobs.
At TNO I have been involved in the organization of user involvement in new ICT developments.
At Ordina I helped set up the strategic direction of my group.
At VSL I was involved in the organization of ICT.
As CIO Eneco Belgium I was involved in every aspect of ICT.
